The Owasso Fraternal Order of Police Lodge, representing the members of the Owasso Police Department has endorsed Scott Walton to be the next sheriff of Rogers County.

“This is phenomenal news,” said Walton. “Getting the endorsement of fellow law enforcement officers is about as high an honor as someone can get when they're running to serve as the leader of a law enforcement agency.”

The FOP vote to endorse Walton happened the same evening that primary elections were being held. Walton did not have an opponent for his party.

Fraternal Order of Police President Tracy Townsend said that every member of the Owasso Fraternal Order of Police was given an opportunity to consider each candidate in the Rogers County Sheriff's race and the result was an overwhelming endorsement of Walton.

"Scott Walton is the person we believe will continue to move the Rogers County Sheriff's Office forward in a positive, responsible way. He's proactive, has true integrity and embodies the spirit of law enforcement,” Townsend said. “We're proud of our endorsement of Walton and invite everyone to join us in endorsing Scott Walton for Sheriff of Rogers County.”

“I've dedicated my life to being a policeman,” Walton said, “As a policeman, it's humbling to get the formal approval of the law enforcement family but, as a candidate for Sheriff, it's hard to think of a higher honor than being endorsed by the police officers of a community I am asking to serve.”

Scott Walton is also endorsed by the Claremore Fraternal of Police and retiring Sheriff Jerry Prather.

Among Scott Walton's plans for the Rogers County Sheriff's Office are a formation of a School Resource Deputy Program that will place deputies inside of Rogers County Schools to defend against school violence and drug activity; a career criminal apprehension program; and citizen based programs such as Crime Stoppers and Alert Neighbors.
