Owasso Firefighters Endorse
Walton
The
Owasso Firefighters Union has endorsed Scott Walton for Sheriff of
Rogers County.
The Firefighter Union, Local
2789 met with both candidates on Tuesday night following a Chamber
of Commerce Forum in Catoosa. The sheriff candidates went to
the Owasso Firefighter Union meeting seeking the group's
endorsement.
Both candidates spoke to the
group but when the group voted, Walton was given the nod of approval
by the firefighters.
"Local 2789 would
like to make it known that we collectively extend our endorsement to
you for Sheriff of Rogers county," wrote Shane Atwell, President of
the Union, Shane McNichol, Vice President of the union, and Eric
York, the Union's Secretary.
"It is our belief
that you display the character, experience, and professionalism
required to lead the Rogers county sheriffs department," the group
wrote.
Walton said he
was honored by the endorsement and looks forward to working with the
Owasso Firefighters when he is Sheriff.
"These guys do so
much for our communities," said Walton, "these guys make going above
and beyond the call of duty look routine."
Walton said he is
humbled by the endorsement and glad that the firefighters union had
a chance to look at both candidates' platforms side by side.
"These great people only want the best for their community and I am
certainly humbled by their support and endorsement."
