Owasso FOP Endorses Walton

The Owasso Fraternal Order of Police has endorsed Scott Walton to serve as the next sheriff of Rogers County.

The FOP met with Walton in May and issued their endorsement on the evening of July 29th, the same day as the primary election.

“This is phenomenal news,” said Walton. “Getting the endorsement of fellow law enforcement officers is about as high an honor as someone can get when they're running to serve as the leader of a law enforcement agency.”

Fraternal Order of Police President Tracy Townsend said that every member of the Owasso Fraternal Order of Police was given an opportunity to consider each candidate in the Rogers County Sheriff's race and the result was an overwhelming endorsement of Walton.

“Scott Walton is the person we believe will continue to move the Rogers County Sheriff's Office forward in a positive, responsible way. He's proactive, has true integrity and embodies the spirit of law enforcement,” Townsend said. “We're proud of our endorsement of Walton and invite everyone to join us in endorsing Scott Walton for Sheriff of Rogers County.”

“I've dedicated my life to being a policeman,” Walton said, “As a policeman, it's humbling to get the formal approval of the law enforcement family but, as a candidate for Sheriff, it's hard to think of a higher honor than being endorsed by the police officers of a community I am asking to serve.”

In a release from the Owasso FOP, President Townsend wrote, "As both Owasso and Rogers County are growing at exponential rates, it is of great importance that the leadership of law enforcement be cognizant of the unique needs of growing populations. Mr. Walton has demonstrated that he is the candidate that can lead the Rogers County Sheriff's Office forward in a positive direction in a manner that is responsible and proactive," the statement said

The release also read, "Because of the endorsement of the FOP, the people of Owasso and Rogers County can be certain that Scott Walton's qualifications to be Sheriff of Rogers County have been carefully considered and this endorsement signals that he carries the approval of the men and women who dedicate themselves to ensuring safe communities."
