Oologah Lake Leader
For the second time in a week, Scott Walton has
been endorsed by a news publication.
The Oologah Lake Leader has given Scott
Walton the endorsement to be the next Sheriff of Rogers County. The
Lake Leader compared both campaigns and favored Walton's bid for
the sheriff seat.
The Lake Leader, in the October 30, 2008
edition, articulated that Walton "has a far better understanding of
the county's need for a unified dispatching center for emergency
services countywide."
The news publication described Walton's
character as "tough," "fair-minded" and, "a people-oriented leader -
exactly what we need in a sheriff."
In referencing the need to unify emergency
communications throughout the county, the Lake Leader wrote that
Walton's networking abilities will serve the public safety needs of
Rogers County well. "His (Walton's) ability to work well with
others will be vital in resolving one of the county's major
problems."
The news organization explained that many
improvements have been made at the Sheriff's Office in recent years
and that Walton would be the best pick to build upon those qualities
while pursuing needed improvements.
The Lake Leader also endorsed former Lake
Leader reporter Bill Snyder for the Oklahoma House of
Representatives District 9 seat; Jack Barnes for the Rogers
County District 2 Commissioner's race and Peggy Armstrong for her
bid to be reelected as the Rogers County Clerk.
In the October 22, 2008 edition of the paper,
endorsements went to incumbent Jeff Cloud for Corporation
Commissioner (Full Term); Jim Roth (short term); Andrew Rice for the
United States Senate; Georgiana Oliver for United States
Congressional District 1 and; Dan Boren for United States
Congressional District 2.
The Oologah Lake Leader encourages readers to
make their voice heard this election and cast their ballot for Scott
Walton for Rogers County Sheriff.
