Luther and Judy Martin
Luther
and Judy Martin have given their endorsement to Scott Walton for
Sheriff of Rogers County.
The Martins are both retired educators and call
Inola home. "I've known Scott for a long time and I know he's
going to make an excellent sheriff," Luther Martin said.
Luther's experience in teaching and coaching in
Rogers County goes back to the late 1960's when Rogers State
University was known as the Oklahoma Military Academy. Luther
taught Health Sciences and also coached the college baseball team.
Luther served as the athletic director through several transitions
of the college; seeing it grow into what it is today. "I was
there through the OMA days then it became Claremore Junior College
then it became Rogers State," he said, "no matter what the name,
it's always been a great school," he added.
Judy Martin taught kindergarten in Inola for
over thirty years before retiring. Judy shepherded countless
youth through her classrooms, including the Walton children.
Today Luther and Judy are in the insurance
business with
Oklahoma Farm Bureau. "It's pretty neat to be able to go to
work everyday with my wife," Luther said.
The Martins are also involved in their
community. Luther is the President of the Inola Library
Foundation and a member of the Lions Club.
Luther and Judy Martin are members of the
National Education Association and are members of the Inola
Methodist Church.
"We have confidence in Scott to lead the
sheriff's office," Luther said. "Rogers County has changed a lot
over the years and there's a lot of change yet to come. We
need a sheriff who can lead the department in the right direction
and be ready for the change that comes along with growing.
Scott is that leader."
"Scott Walton has the leadership, integrity,
dedication, and the vision we need to run the sheriff's office.
This is an important election for Rogers County and my vote is going
to Walton," said Martin.
