Terry Laflin has endorsed the Scott Walton campaign for the
sheriff's seat of Rogers County. Laflin has experienced
working with Walton on numerous occasions while serving as a police
officer with the Owasso Police Department.
"Scott really shows the spirit of Rogers County and, like Rogers
himself, Scott is someone who doesn't find many people he doesn't
like and he's someone who's genuinely interested and concerned about
the people he serves," Laflin said.
Laflin began his fifteen-year career
in law enforcement with the Owasso Police Department. He was
promoted to the rank of Sergeant and served as a detective with the
agency. In 1992, Laflin graduated from the Federal Bureau of
Investigation National Academy and returned to the Owasso P.D. with
a new rank of Assistant Chief.
Laflin also earned a
certification as an assessor for the prestigious CALEA organization.
CALEA, an acronym for the Commission on Accreditation for Law
Enforcement Agencies is a benchmark of professionalism and, in order
for law enforcement agencies to become accredited by the
organization, the agency must demonstrate the utmost of
professionalism in police work. Accreditation by CALEA is
known as the primary method for an agency to demonstrate their
commitment to excellence in law enforcement.
Laflin retired from law enforcement and began operating his own
private investigation firm in the Tulsa area but also continued his
CALEA work, becoming a consultant for the Tulsa County Sheriff's
Office when the TCSO was seeking accreditation by CALEA. Tulsa
County Sheriff's Office was successful in the pursuit of
accreditation and is now a proud member agency of CALEA.
"Scott is honest and he's always there when you need him," Laflin
said. "I'm proud to know him and glad that Rogers County has
the chance to elect such a good man."
