Mayor Cheryl
Charles, Inola

Inola Mayor Cheryl Charles has endorsed Scott
Walton in his bid to be elected Sheriff of Rogers County.
Mayor Charles isn't just the
Inola Mayor, she is also the owner of Inola Casting Works which has
been publicly touted as a source of pride for Oklahoma.
In speaking of Walton, Mayor
Charles said, "I would like to take this opportunity to publicly
endorse Scott Walton for Rogers County Sheriff. Scott has
outstanding leadership ability and life long experience in law
enforcement." As Mayor,
Charles is responsible for providing law enforcement services, fire
protection, and emergency services to her town's citizens.
Her company is noted for
multiple contributions to Oklahoma including raising $10,000 for
disaster relief after the unforgettable 1993 Catoosa tornado.
In 1995, after the nation was shocked to watch the Oklahoma City
Bombing, Inola Casting works created the "Healing in the Heartland"
pin which was able to raise $150,000.
In response to the September
11th attack, Inola Casting Works jumped into action and raised over
$400,000. A lot of the money raised by Inola Casting Works
went to Oklahoma organizations that were active in the disaster
relief.
Also, in 2003, the company
created a "Support Our Troops" pin that raised $110,000 for the
United Service Organization (USO). USO President Edward Powell
praised the pin as one of the "top-level donations."
The company rose from a tiny, one man operation
when Cheryl Charles' father, George Freeman began the company in
1990. Before opening the doors of Inola Casting Works, Freeman
had been a freelance sculptor, working from his home's basement for
many years while making contacts in the jewelry industry.
In short, Cheryl Charles knows
a little something about service. Be it at the helm of the
family's business or taking charge of the Rogers County town, Cheryl
Charles is comfortable serving communities and the public interests.
Mayor Charles spoke of not only
the raw qualifications that makes a good sheriff, but also of the
personality that is needed in serving the public. Charles said
that Walton's law enforcement experience qualifies him to be the
Rogers County Sheriff but his genuine care for the people in Rogers
County make him the best pick. "Bringing these qualities to
the Rogers County Sheriff's Department, as well as Scott's outgoing
'Guy Next Door' personality, will ensure that Rogers County's future
will have integrity, honor and approachability. Have you ever seen
Scott without a smile, a kind word, or a ready ear to listen to your
concerns?" she rhetorically asked.
"A vote for Scott Walton is a
vote for the future of Rogers County," the Mayor said.
