Charlene Harrell

Charlene Harrell is a retiree of Public Service Company of Oklahoma. Since being in Inola, even while working and raising a family, she helped with earlier days of Hay Day, serving as its President twice. She helped with getting a Senior Citizens Center started in Inola and served as their first Secretary. Presently she is on the Board of Directors for Inola Area Chamber of Commerce and is a past President as well as having been past Secretary more than once. In 2001 she was awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award.

In the County, she served five years on the Rogers County United Way Board, leaving because of term limits. While on the Board she also served as their Communication Chairman and was instrumental in getting Inola Senior Citizens and Inola Meals on Wheels as a UW Agency. The Rogers County UW supports 26 agencies. She has been on the United Way Campaign Committee for ten years and has served as Chairman for the Inola Area – each year exceeding the goal set for Inola. She will be helping again this year. She is also on the Board of the Hospital Advisory Committee for Claremore Regional Hospital.

"I have known Scott Walton for many years in Inola," Harrel said.  "We moved to Inola 42 years ago and I have been more than a little active in the community of Inola. I have witnessed Scott’s dedication to projects that his church has; he has helped with the Old Bag Auction in Claremore to raise money for Safenet and this last year donated his services to help the Reality Check put on by Rogers County for the students in Rogers County at the Expo Center. As well as being well qualified, he is a caring, dedicated individual which is a good attribute for a Sheriff.

Charlene has been a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International, an International Service Organization, for 35 years. She is a Past State President, as well as holding all the other elected offices on the State level as well as some of the appointed offices. For two years she was Chapter President and this year is Chapter Secretary. The Run for St. Jude was one of the ESA projects she helped start for the Sigma Chi chapter and this year they celebrated their 27th year. For many of those years she served as the Run Chairman.

As a 4 year Board Member of Safenet in Claremore, she has worked at various events to raise money to build a bigger Domestic Abuse Shelter in Claremore.

Currently she works in the office of her son, Stan’s Harrell Law Office. Charlene and her husband A.C. will be celebrating their 62nd wedding anniversary this year. They have 6 grown children, five boys and a girl; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild. A.C. is retired from the building industry.

"Scott was advised early on that I would be one of his faithful supporters and willing to do whatever I could to help him in his campaign. He is truly the best candidate for the office and Rogers County is fortunate that he is considering serving them in this capacity," she said.
