Reception for Walton Brings Out The Best

Scott Walton has always known he has an abundance of friends and supporters and that point was driven home Thursday night in Claremore when a reception for Scott was put together and hosted at the Days Inn hotel.

The night brought out quite a few Walton supporters including some community leader heavyweights such as Sheriff Jerry Prather, Claremore Police Chief Mickey Perry, Dr. Bill Simcoe, and Mr and Mrs. John Smith, a retired football coach who has shepherded countless youth into adulthood.

“This was a great night for not only my campaign for sheriff but it was also a heartwarming night for me as a member of this community,” said Walton. “It feels good to have so many friends who are willing to push and pull and do what it takes to help me in this race.”

The night took on a party atmosphere after Walton spoke to his supporters from the podium. Late comers were greeted to the sounds of endless laughter coming from the crowd. As stories and jokes were passed around the conference center, the flash of photographs and the continual greetings fed the atmosphere that felt much like a victory party.

“It might feel that way but it's just excitement,” Walton said. “Everyone here is pumped up about the campaign like I am.”

Some ardent supporters on hand included Rick Thomas, Jerry Brother, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Neely, Frank Robson, Pat Reeder, Don Hill, Richard Lundy, members of the Bill Snyder family (Oklahoma House Representative candidate) and many, many more wonderful, supportive people and community leaders.

Walton said that the reception was initiated by a friend of the campaign and served not only to get supporters together but also to raise campaign donations.

“We were able to raise some much needed campaign funds, “Walton said, “my friends and supporters are not just excited, they're generous as well and when you're running for public office that's a definite plus. These campaigns take a lot of money to keep going and I'm grateful that my friends and supporters saw the need and rose to the challenge of keeping the campaign on track.”
