Rodeo Rounds Up Fun
The Oologah Rodeo, held at the
Oologah Mustang Round Up Club, is being reported as "...one of the
best rodeos Oologah has seen in years."
Scott Walton was in attendance
at the rodeo where he sponsored the calf scramble, a favorite
activity of rodeo fans and kids.
"It was a fun night and the
kids had a great time," Walton said. "I was happy to sponsor
the calf scramble and I agree that this year's rodeo was fantastic."
Scott was able to meet rodeo
fans and contestants from all over northeastern Oklahoma. "Not
only were people from all over Rogers County at the rodeo, it seemed
like every county in Green Country was represented by someone. I'm
really proud of Oologah's work on this event and the effort it's
taken to make the Oologah Mustang Round Up Club Rodeo one of the
better rodeos around."
Of course, there were plenty of
Walton fans attending as well. "It's always a good feeling to
come to an event and be greeted by so many friends and supporters,"
Walton said. "I was able to talk to a lot of people who showed
interest in the sheriff's office and want to see the best happen for
Rogers County. They've offered me their support and I am
grateful for that."
But,
the fun part of the night for Walton came when the calf scramble
began and energetic children chased after the ribbon tied tails,
hoping to catch their prize.
"Seeing those little proud
faces holding up their ribbons was pretty special and kind of hard
to beat," he said.
Walton delivered the prize
money the kids had earned on both nights of the event and made sure
to congratulate the winners of the Mutton-Bustin' competitions as
well. Winners of the Mutton Bustin' earned themselves belt
buckles.
And, as so often happens at
rodeos, if Scott went missing, he could likely be found at the
concession stand. "Hey, gotta love brats and burgers," Walton said
(several times.) But, Walton wasn't the only concession fan and
several rodeo fans commented about the good food that was being
served at the event.
