Bluegrass Festival Fun

The Scott Walton for Sheriff booth at the Bluegrass and Chili Festival was a hopping spot during the three day event.  Booth visitors were able to get yard signs, tee-shirts, bumper stickers, sign up for email updates, meet Scott and some of the campaign volunteers, and talk about their concerns with the sheriff's office and what they would like to see happen with their money.

Throughout the three day event, Walton for Sheriff signs were everywhere in the crowd.  Most were being carried away by booth visitors while some others were planted at outdoor lawn chairs.  "It was pretty neat to walk through the crowd and see people walking around with my signs.  It was hard to look anywhere and not see my name; that's a good feeling," Walton said.

Walton for Sheriff tee-shirts, sold for five-dollars each were carried off at a surprising level, as well as the free bumper stickers and brochures.  Rose Walton was pleasantly surprised at the level of interest in the campaign and the demand for campaign items.  "We had to quickly order a few more boxes of tee-shirts because there were so many people wanting them," she said.

Another great development was the number of people signing up to receive campaign updates and volunteering to help with the campaign. A lot of sheets were filled out with lists of names of people excited about the race and Walton.

One of the best outcomes was the voter registration drive.  "We ran out of cards! I didn't think to get spares because we weren't expecting so many young people to have caught our message that we're wanting them to register," said Rose Walton.  The registration cards lasted until just after noon on Saturday and those who stopped by to register on Saturday afternoon were asked to go online, either to scottwalton.org or to the state election board's website, to find the registration form.  "It's great to see so many young people coming out for us," said Scott. "Being young doesn't mean they don't appreciate their right to vote and these young people understand that they need representatives of their tax money that are responsible and not wasteful.  I'm glad they're getting our message and coming to us."

Festival goers were treated to three days of outstanding bluegrass music, an awesome car show, great tasting chili, and an abundance of family fun.
